Michelin stars 

Boulonnais boasts two Michelin-starred restaurants: ‘La Matelote’ beside the beach in Boulogne-sur-Mer, and ‘La Liégeoise’ on the famous Wimereux seafront. Both stand out with their remarkable longevity and power to transport us. Both are iconic, as are the families and chefs at the helm (the Lestienne at ‘La Matelote’ and the Delpierre at ‘La Liégeoise’) who are strongly committed to showcasing the ingredients, and seafood in particular. 

Bib Gourmand 

In a lively, pedestrian road in the old town in Boulogne is the ‘L'Ilot Vert’, which has been awarded a Bib Gourmand. This means that it has been selected by the Michelin Guide inspectors for its great quality and excellent value for money. The restaurant has a well-thought out décor and serves a combination of a contemporary cuisine and fresh ingredients. On fine days, there is seating outside in a small paved courtyard at the back. Delicious!

 

Assiettes Michelin

Equally delicious are dishes created by the three ‘assiette Michelin’ restaurants in Boulonnais. The red guide’s famous ‘assiette’ is intended for quality restaurants which match the following criteria: ‘Quality ingredients and an expert chef: quite simply a good meal.’ It is almost like a preliminary star. The three places to eat in the region to mention are the ‘Restaurant de la Plage’ in Boulogne-sur-Mer for its fish specialities, the ‘Hostellerie de la Rivière’ in Pont-de-Briques for its delightful surroundings and delicate cuisine and the ‘Berthier’ in the grounds of the ‘Hôtel Cléry’ and its superb parkland.
